AML and Financial Crime Training

Build learning around roles and decisions

A board or senior leadership session may focus on oversight: what risk information should prompt challenge, how escalation and control ownership work, and which decisions remain with accountable leaders. MLRO and compliance teams may need a shared view of risk assessment, due diligence, monitoring and reporting. Technology or data teams may need to connect system design and analytical outputs to the controls they support.

The right level depends on participants' roles, knowledge, organisation and jurisdictions. An initial discussion can establish the audience, prerequisites, relevant processes, business context and decisions learners should be prepared to consider. A workshop can then reflect those needs rather than assume one generic AML course suits every team.

Use practical context, not only definitions

Anonymised or hypothetical cases can help participants consider how a concern develops, what information matters, when to escalate and how to record a decision. The aim is to practise applying concepts to each role and to recognise when specialist advice is needed.

For UK firms to which relevant provisions apply, FCA Handbook SYSC 6.3 guidance says systems and controls should include appropriate employee training in relation to money laundering, alongside information for senior management and documented risk management policies. The exact rules depend on firm and activity. Training can support an organisation's control environment but does not replace its procedures, supervision, role-specific accountability or jurisdictional legal advice.

Agree outcomes and delivery before booking

Planning starts with the audience, learning aims, duration and format, relevant policies, sensitive topics, accessibility needs and how the organisation will assess the session. The parties confirm availability and delivery format before agreeing the work. No certificate, accreditation or CPD approval is claimed.
